Didier Deschamps has confirmed that he will not be extending his contract beyond the 2026 World Cup

Didier Deschamps, the current manager of the France national team, has confirmed that he will not be extending his contract beyond the 2026 World Cup. This announcement comes after a highly successful period for Les Bleus, including a World Cup victory in 2018.  

Deschamps, who took over as France manager in 2012, has guided the team to numerous accolades, including the 2018 World Cup title, the 2021 UEFA Nations League title, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup final. His decision to step down after the 2026 World Cup will bring an end to a remarkable era for French football.  

The French Football Federation (FFF) has yet to announce a successor for Deschamps, but several names have been floated as potential candidates, including Zinedine Zidane and Laurent Blanc.  

Deschamps' departure will undoubtedly leave a big void in French football, but it is a decision that he has clearly thought long and hard about. He leaves behind a legacy of success and will be remembered as one of the greatest managers in French football history.
