Real Madrid appeal to rescind Vinicius' red card, say Valen goalkeeper provoked first & VAR didn't show it
Jan. 06,2025 -- According to Jose Felix Diaz, the Real Madrid team reporter of Spanish media Marca, the reporter has updated the internal opinion of Real Madrid on Vinicius' red color against Valencia.
As previously reported, although Vinicius left the field after seeing red against Valencia, the Brazilian striker will not miss Real Madrid's upcoming Copa del Rey match, but he will be banned for two league matches, against Las Palmas and Valladolid, respectively.
Vinicius' punishment will be assessed on Tuesday, local time. But in any case, Real Madrid want to cancel the red penalty for Vinicius, and the club's appeal is ready to move in that direction.
It is reported that Real Madrid will appeal against the Valencia goalkeeper's provocative actions prior to this; the controversial VAR intervention, which only showed Vinicius' actions; and the fact that the referee's report was contradictory.
It is worth mentioning that Jose Felix Diaz also revealed in a previous report that Real Madrid has strongly called for a revamp of the refereeing system in La Liga.
The departure of Vinicius has further strengthened the determination of Real Madrid's management for a comprehensive reform of the La Liga refereeing system, an issue that has a long history rather than a recent protest or pursuit.
They referenced the bias in VAR communication in this instance and noted that the referee ignored the antecedents of Vinicius' behavior. The Real Madrid side argues that justice in La Liga will be difficult to achieve as long as the status quo remains unchanged.
Real Madrid wants La Liga to clarify the issue of understanding the concept of VAR use, pointing out that VAR is being used for purposes contrary to its original intent. Vinicius' sentencing, in their view, reaffirms the legitimacy of their demand for a complete overhaul of the refereeing system, a position that was made clear to FIFA President Infantino at the recent Doha meeting.
